hello, can anyone identify what the two holes are on this end of the supercharger,

i am looking to make my own kit but does anyone know what the two holes are for,

i was under the impression that there was just the pipe going to the carb on this end??

Any help would be great

many thanks

thanks for your replies

bungle, i am pretty sure the air out is on the bottom face which attaches to the inlet manifold and the big oval hole in the image is the intake, but its the other one that im not sure about

checkmate, ah rite that sounds logical because it looks like there is a drive in there to turn somthing like a pump,

does anyone know whether yopu need to blank it off or can you leave it as it is in the photo??

cheers rob

big hole on the left is the air intake, hole on the right is a drive for a water pump, this can be blanked with an alloy plate to stop dirt getting in. Air out is on the bottom of the charger.

mini 13's rite, if you have a look at jonspeeds kit, you can see that its blocked off with a plate.

oh and can i ask, if you make a blanking plate for the pump bit, would be able to make one for me too? (il pay of course) as im slowly doing the same thing lol. and also i need a flange for the air intake (oval part) if you could. thanks

yes no problem,

i dont know when i will be doing it because im a poor student at the moment lol but it will be some time in 2008,

exactly when will depend on how much of my student loan i have left.

Im doing mechanical engineering so have acess to a lathe and mill so will be able to make the pulley with no trouble so i could make one of these for you aswell.

Have you looked into what to do about the inlet manifold, ive been looking at a downdraft weber manifold somthing like the 28/32 weber, these go quite cheap on ebay and have a upwards facing flange which im sure can be modified to fit the bottom of the super charger, maybe with another flange bolted between the charger and manifold...

keep me updated on your progress, im sure its the way to go because the kits availible are expensive for what they are, you can pick a good eaton m45 of ebay for 100-150 quid

this is definatly the route to go

cheers

does anyone know what the life on one of these superchargers is?

theres one on ebay with 7000 miles, do you think it will still be in good condition, how often do they need to be serviced?

well,

as nearly all the chargers from BINIs have been removed to be replaced with the larger charger in the works upgrade, most have not seen that many miles so should be in good condition.

I think it unlikly you would get a knackered charger.

also this ad might be handy, even if only for insperation.

the generation 5 eaton m45's are said to be good for 100,000 miles so any will be good really, they change the charger when fitting the john cooper works coversion, when all they really need do it replace the pulley on the charger therefore upping the boost,

but, they would rather charge youi for a whole supercharger,

very usfull, people pay much more on ebay for one with less miles, theres one with 12,000 which will probably go quite cheap

cheers

Hey there... just found this post..

Just won an EatonM45 supercharger on Ebay and am currently eyeing up a 1380 Avonbar engine that a friend has.

Did you get around to making the blanking plate/pulley/flange?

If not... could you add me to your list if I get some cash? :)
