.....as ive just been informed as of January i will be working for Mini Sport on a trials basis in the CNC machine workshop.....
Ever since i quit my uni course at Huddersfield doing Motorsport technology, because the course wasnt what i was told it was, i have been pestering them if they had any jobs on the enginneering side and they finally gave in today and i shall be starting in the New Year. I cant wait to get busy and learn to use the machines properlly

What do you think of the job, do you enjoy it is it hard work as ive only just briefly touched on some of the programe coding used....and as for jobs feel free to ask them

Well that i cannot be sure of exactly as im going to be absusing the fact of this next year when i restore my mini

i learned cnc programming earlier this year with a prog called xilog plus, mine was ona wood working cnc router but obviously the principles are the same, if ur pretty computer literate and ur maths is ok you'll be surprised how quick it all comes and the satisfaction of making and refining a program to create something so accurate is great, i'm gonna design a new grill for my mini and cut it out in aluminium (our machine is capable of this too) but as of yet i haven't had any great design ideas, if anyone has any ideas of something cool i could do out of flat plate ally then they could let me know, its gonna be for a race/rally style mini and may even be painted black(its going on orange).

learning the code is easy, it's working out how the get the parts out of the metal that takes the skill. i like the job but the company i work for is naff.

and i do all my programing at the machine, none of that cheating on the PC rubbish
