That was some good racing, like full size Scalextric. Aston Martin racing on the pitch at Wembley? You better believe it, lots of use of the handbrake needed to turn the thing in that space. And a car as heavy as an Aston jumping off the bridge with only about a hundred foot run up was amazing. Excellent Aston crash from Kovalainen too! All kinds of goodness. Shumacher stalling a Punto on the start line. Priaulx dropping the freaky little Solution F off the edge of the tarmac at the critical moment and digging a nice hole in the pitch in the process. One of the old Stigs was there and put on a blistering lap or six in a proper '80s Audi Quattro. Brilliant.

Excellent afternoon's racing, damn cold though.

Oh and I forgot, the whole thing was dedicated to the memory of Colin McRae. His old Scooby was sitting in the middle of the track for the proper race, keeping an eye on everything. He had been driving in this race for years and was clearly sorely missed by all. His brother drove in his place.

Just been reading the reports on this, sounds like it was a great afternoons racing. From what I've read it sounds like Vettel pretty much won it for the Germans, even beating a rally champ in his own car!

Yes but he didn't win outright. There are 2 events at the ROC, the Cup of Nations is first and then the ROC itself. Germany won the Cup of Nations, pretty much thanks to Vettel (Schumacher was a lap down in his last heat because as I said he stalled his car) but the overall winner of the event was Ekstrom, for the second year running.

I think Lewis was there as a VIP, his dad certainly was. I don't think he'll enter it for a couple of years yet, he's very professional in his attitude and wants to get properly established in F1. Although he did do the Top Gear track I suppose so who knows.

Err, no. It's France, the law's different remember. I don't think a foreign country can take your licence away properly, they can only ban you from driving in their country. Lewis is only banned in France. International laws make this tricky for them to punish, because they can't really affect your licence very much from their country they give a much bigger on the spot fine. It cost him nearly £500.00, obviously he can afford that but it would have been the same for anyone.
