Oh also next weekend we should be getting the subframes off so the shell can get media blasted so we can see the full extent of the body rot before we do any of the modifications

Because it's cold wet and damp here most of the time, they also cover the roads in salt in the winter. Also later mini's had crap paint and rotted far more quickly than earlier examples.

That's the main reason I moved away from minis and bought the GRP Midas!
I'm also pretty sure the steel used must have been of inferior quality. These Micras are much better, but even they go rusty here in the North of the UK, those in the South do fair a bit better because they don't put so much salt on the roads.

Well Sunday the front was completely stripped (apart from the steering rack) the inner wings are now down to an inch from the shock mount, gona seam weld it for a bit more strength, front subframe is in great condition (probably from all of the oil thats leaked out over the years_ the top bolts were fairly slack which was quite worrying but ah well, the front mounts were shot one side wasn't even attached!
The shocks didnt even have any resistance so i'm thinking they were due renewal The doughnuts were a little tricky for a minute but it turned out that we have a puller that has the same thread so were able to compress it enough to get the full hub assembly off the subframe.
This weekend rear subframe removal then its all going to be blasted free of paint

Any more updates on this?
Is that formerly a Mini Rio? Judging by the door card?

Slow progress (again) not much has been done since the last update. Subframes are stripped, thats about all really
Sure is/was a Rio wont have a great deal in common with a standard one eventually!
