Anywhere really - don't think there's any requirement other than you have one. You could buy a cheapo set of letter punches. They are riveted: drill out, araldite new ones in to save on acquiring a rivet set.

You don't need a rivet setter, just two rivets. They are special screwed rivets that fit like nails, you just hammer them in. One of the smaller Mini specialists does proper O/E type reverse stamping of VIN and number plates, I can't remember who but if you scour the latest mags they should have it on their advert. I'll try and remember who it is.

Why not just get some stamps and stamp your engine number stright onto the block face?
Thats what I did.

Hi
When I replaced my engine number plate, the old rivets were left in the block as the old rivet heads were dround off during th rebuild.
Whwn mounting it, what you can do for an authentic look is use an epoxy adhesive like JB weld to stick the plate on the block. Also, you can cut the heads off two new rivets and stick them on as well.
The reason I did it this way rather then redrilling the holes for the rivets as one of them get mighty close to the water jacket and I didnt want to risk going through and then water leaks out!
A Comapny called Bernie Bolt can supply the correct rivets.
