Yo,

Right. Got a tin of smooooth white hammerite and a load of thinner left. Just regular thinner.

Can I spray hammerite with thinner? Or will it plain not work. It's just for the wheels is all.

Ta for any help.

Well it all depends is it Hammerite thinners?if not then no you cant as using cellulose based thinners will cause the paint to seperate and not apply properlly.

as above,, the thinners need to be the hammerite specific.. you can get em anywhere which sells tha paint like b&q etc... iv sprayed hammerite using my spray gun before with no problems i used 2 parts paint to 1 part thinners,, that may actually be the recommendation on the tin i cant remember? its easy to spray anyway just take your time because its quite i thick and heavy paint so dont hang about on one spot for too long.

Well, has anybody actually tried using normal cellulose thinners with Hammerite...? Just because Hammerite sell a very expensive version of thinners for their paint, it doesn't mean that you have to use it. I always thin down my hammerite with cellulose thinners for spraying, and have had no adverse reactions whatsoever. It works a treat, and is a lot less expensive than the Hammerite stuff...

I'll give it a go then. Test on an old wheel 1st. Saves me screwing anything up.

Cheers all.

....

Oh, I want the same consistence right? Just I do 50/50 with my other paint & hammerite is very sticky.

I could never get White sprirt to blend properly with hammerite, but Celly thinners work a treat,.. but as usual they do flash off mighty quick compared to the hammerite 'special' thinners.

What is it with big adam and hammerite? :-

It's tradition!

Anyway, after all that I think I'm going to leave the wheels for now. Want to get the compressor back to it's owner. Need to clean it up 1st.

It's.....slightly hagged.
