I know this has proberbly been covered before but can anyone explain how to use the tool for fitting the locking strip please as i'm not sure which way to hold it. Does the kink in the wire point up or down and do you push or pull the tool along?I found it very frustrating to use and ended tapping it in with a soft hammer and lots of window cleaner which works but takes ages.

Depends which tool you are using, I have a tool which has two adapters which will both put the bead in ok but one is a diamond shape and the other is like a curved horse shoe, the way I use mine is to pull the tool (stop giggling) but like you said use some washing up liquid to lubricate the rubber.

Whatever works for you I guess, logic would suggest it would be best to push the tool so the filler is being pushed towards the gap rather than lifted away from it. I'm a couple of spoon handles merchant meself.

You can't push my bead inserter, it has to be pulled for it to work as the bead passes through the handle before going through the guide and into position.

my tool is a basic one from minispares diamond shaped with a kink in it halfway but im not sure if the kink is supposed to point up or down.I have seen a pro do it but he was so quick i didnt see which way he had it or if he pulled or pushed it neither way worked for me. My girlfreind was so frustrated with it she threw it down the garden!there must be a right way or wrong way of using it.

If its this one then you pull it, it's similar to mine although mine has a metal handle with a hole going up the middle of it to help feed the bead into place.

Window lean is good for lubricant :-.

When I did mine I pushed the tool, applying pressure infront of the tool so the fillet slides in.

Paul.
