Whilst my misses was in work yesterday, me my 2 kids (Katy aged 16 and Dominic aged 9) plus my mother all decided to go for a Xmas shopping trip and have a meal in Porthcawl (seaside town) which is about 30 miles away.
So we all set off in the Mini and it was fantastic and even my mother who can't walk far and needs a walking stick said she'd thoroughly enjoyed being in the Mini too.
It's amazing because we're not little people and I'm quite high and mighty and yet I find it perfectly comfortable to drive.
The best thing is that it's great fun to drive and it's also nice to be noticed. Yes a family was walking past as I slotted it into a little parking space once we got to Porthcawl and the 2 little boys pointed and said "look at that, that is well cool that is".
Anyway yes Minis are great fun and provide an addictive buzz and that's at legal speed limits, so we're not likely to loose our driving licences any time soon. Most modern bland-boxes are just not the same and their certainly not fun at decent speed levels.
Just read the conclusion comments in this 16 year old Mini road test: -
Minimalist Pleasures linkIt says "Has Rover Invented The Performance Car Of The Future", because that stated how you can have fun, whilst grinning from ear to ear and stay legal. That was 16 years ago and with the country now infested with speed cameras and the current heavy fines and possible loss of our driving licences threat, I'd say that the Mini is more relevant today than ever.
