i have recently installed a sw5 cam and renewed the cylinder head with a stage 3 morspeed head in my 998, the problem now is that although i can start the car and keep it running at high revs it wont idle on its own as it just dies . I will be having it timed properly shortly but wont be able to make it to the roliing road in this condidtion. It is using an aau needle and red spring is this ok or do i need a different needle ? any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

The needle will be tailored at the rolling road anyway or swapped, why don't you just increse your idle speed? have you timed it in as per Swiftune's instructions? everything as it should be?

Along the lines of Retro_10's question of "everything as it should be?".... Look for vacuum leaks. You've had the head off so make sure the intake gasket is sealing well against the head and that the intake and exhaust flanges are the same thickness. When you have a bad vacuum leak you'll be able to get the engine to run with a nearly wide open throttle and with tons of choke... but it won't idle and it won't really be very drivable.

try screwing in the idle screw on the carb to see if it helps. Did you use new gaskets ? Also did you remove the carb from the mainfold ? You might have a little air leak here. Even with a little gap the engine wont idle.

i rechecked the manifold gasket and discovered an air leak is now fixed and running well. Thanks for all your help and advise
