No it's 2K i'm very peed off as I wanted to buy my 2k paint today for the respray but the effing shop is closed. So I'm going to have to try and find some erm other paint that isn't 2k from somewhere in the newyearoh I thought it was celly that was being banned tomorrow? I suppose prices are bound to shoot up.
It's really annoying because they've banned 2k for environmental reasons so you have to use crappy waterbased and the laquer to use with that is 2k based anyway! I know a sprayer (too expensive for me though) and he said respray'll go up by 40%

I hope that's the case as if you know the right people it should still be reasonably available. Its being banned to buy by the public, bodyshops can still use it I thought?

Celly will only be available to classic car restoration specialists, who will have to get certified as so.
It will be illegal to produce solvent based tinters after the 1st of Jan, anyone caught making them after that date faces a severe fine.
Only when all the remaining tinters have run out, will it be impossible to use it. At the moment there is no date set for when it will be illegal to USE 2k paint.
It will be decided when it seems all the tinters have been used up.
And yeah, respray prices are bound to go up, although we don't' charge any extra for using waterbase at the moment..
I don't understand how that guy has said his paint isn't dry yet, if it's at the correct temperature, and blown with the correct equipment, it dries in about 15 mins at the most. Sounds like an excuse to me.

No-one will be able to use the current type of 2K at all. You will be unable to buy 2K basecoat, only waterbase, the lacquer is still technically 2K, but it's a high solid and less harmful to the environment. Water base lacquer is available, but it's not a legal necessity. As for solid colours, the same applies as lacquer.

We're struggling to dry water based to be honest.
Admittedly we're not using the thousands of pounds of air drying equipment but some of the smaller bodyshops like us cannot afford to fund these straight away.
Luckily for us our paint supplier still has alot of tinters for mixing up 2k basecoat, so we're still using that, which is buying us time to get ready for when we have to switch to water base.
On a brighter note, I prefer the high solid 2k solid paints to the old 2k solid paints.
Were classified as 'classic car specialists' but wont be applying for a licence to use celly because.. well, its pants.
