i'm trying to get some use out of our countrys dieing byways (many are being re classified so vehicles cannot use them)
anyhow i've been using my trusty xr400 and its been a good laugh but i fancy a change i'd quite like to try a 2 stroke maybe a ktm or gas gas 200 want something that has good usable power like the xr not tooo peeky,
the main reason for the choice is they are simple and light, the 400 although not heavy as such its alittle fat around the middle, does anyone trail ride? any tips or advice on strokers? i'd like to do a swap possible with some cash to the other party as i value my bike around the £1500 mark...
anyone got any opinions

my oppinion, keep away from 2 strokes as they are fragile, keep with a major brand such as honda, ive heard good reports about the drz 400,4 strokes are more reliable, try and go for something with leccy start, the drz has this.check out my pics in non mini projects type thingy, its my yz,it's got loads of grunt low down,The 2 strokes tend to need a good barrel of juice everytime and they can bog down if you dont rev the nuts off the little buggers.hello all, ive been riding bikes for 6 ish years and recently have got into off roading coming from sports bikes...

also with a 2 stroke youll be changing the piston on a regular basis, the rings wear very quickly, until recently we rented a field with a huge private xcross trail owned by a farmer, my son had had a 4 stroke max pro, hubby a honda cr250, me a kazuma 250 quad and a little kazuma 100 quad for my daughter.
Some chavs decided to use the land for their cheap motos and sunday market quads and scrap 4x4's and that was that. The police and council made the farmer end the rental and close all access. Still have alot of clothing and helmets but we sold everything on a 4 quad trailer for £1200. very sad because it was so much fun.

Ive had 500 crossers 250 trials etc,the trouble is keeping on the right side of the law,,here we HAD people doing it right, but then other plonkers ruin it,were do you ride em,dead right on the piston rings,a lot of these modern strokers are fantastic, but remember they are so highly tuned and under such stress that they are high maintainance, just be carefull what you buy,i should know ive already spent over half what the bikes worth.my oppinion, keep away from 2 strokes as they are fragile, keep with a major brand such as honda, ive heard good reports about the drz 400,4 strokes are more reliable, try and go for something with leccy start, the drz has this.check out my pics in non mini projects type thingy, its my yz,it's got loads of grunt low down,The 2 strokes tend to need a good barrel of juice everytime and they can bog down if you dont rev the nuts off the little buggers.hello all, ive been riding bikes for 6 ish years and recently have got into off roading coming from sports bikes...
