I'm considering selling my registration as I've been asked by a few people for it. Something about Liverpool FC. But I was wondering how I go about selling my plates and then putting a new reg on my car. anyinfo appreciated.

easy peasy but takes time... you get a form from dvla, to put the reg on retention, you pay them £125 i believe it is, after about 6 weeks they issue your car with new age related plates, you can then sell the old plate on retention but the transfer to the new owner then takes 6 weeks.
im an expert ive done this about 10 times now...lol

Coming from Liverpool, I'd say you're wrong here.
I know someone from my last place of work who had just spent £2000 on an LFC plate for himself for Christmas.

IMO, number plates are not worth the metal/plastic they are printed on.... only if someone actually offers you real money for it, is it worth anything....

i had one which was 'FRT' which i sold for £1950. i used a company who handled every thing for me and sent me the cheque for the £1950
but who on earth would pay that sort of money for that number plate still baffles me!!!! but hey i got some money so who cares!

I think they inspect any vehicle over 15 years old now if you wish to transfer a plate off it.
Something to do with people transfering plates of vehicles that no longer existed i.e only the paperwork is left.
