I was wondering whether it is possible to run twin carbs with a supercharged A series engine?

I've been looking at the Jonspeed kit in particular and notice that a singe HIF44 carb is used but it is possible to use twin carbs? If so, would it have any negative impact on setup/performance?

The reason for my question is that I will be soon fitting a 1275 with twin hs2's then eventually I will supercharge it, but perhaps retain the twin carbs.

Cheers, Luke.

I'd be intereseted to know the answer to this too. With the Jonspeed kit their doesn't seem to be the room to fit them.

I think that the ultimate limiting factor is space.

The HIF44 will flow enough in a turbocharged mini for 250 to 300 bhp, so fitting twins seems like an awlful lot of effort for nowt.

Space issues would make sense. The only reason i wanted to know really is that I quite like the look of twin carbs that and the fact that i've just bought some!

Thanks for the reply, Luke.

Would surely be a nightmare to set up - how would you balance blow through carbs and what would be the point of 2 suck through carbs on one blower inlet?

There probably wouldn't be much point. I merely wondered if it was possible, mainly due to aesthetics than anything else.

i would like to see a 300bhp a series i thought the max was about 220bhp and don't last for long. you can use twin carbs but better for suck through and would require a lot of fabrication Weber would be the easier way out or for same power but better fuel economy you could adapt a pair of bike carbs these are brilliant items

I think will is refering to either the airflow that the turbo carb will give or possibly to it use on maestro turbo's which i think have put out close to 300hp.

but as said putting a webber on would be good, and certainly easier to set up than twin SU's
