if your thinking of spraying your mini yourself, i would strongly reconmend you got out and get the paint soon. most paint suppliers are starting to run out of solvent based paints. this is because they are changing over to this new water based. i am told that this paint is going to be more expensive too. this changeover happened in january, but you are still allowed to buy paint while stocks last.

im told 1000 places have already closed because of it

its not as bad as some people make out because primer and clear coat will still be 2k its only the basecoat that is going to waterbased, you will still be able to get solid colours in 2k as vans etc are still being painted in it.

your not allowed to buy it for spraying a car... but if you purchase some saying your spraying a *insert random object here* you can get it.

"word on the street" lol.

Thats fine and dandy but my paint shop bumped the prices up on the old stuff.

£10 something for 1/4 liter black.

Is water based paint going to be compatible with celly?

I doubt it will react, but I've used oil based paint on celly covered cars with the colour matched and in certain light the match is a mile out.

I would really Just continue buying paint as you are, people will still be able to buy paint in one form or another for cars etc,.. be it oil based, synthetic 1k or bleedin' hammerite. Scaremongering has been going on here for ages now as if there is going to be a world ban on everything from watercolour to posterfrigging paint >_< and i Don't think there's Going to be a particularly spectacular drought of such, you'll find new paints on the market and ones that are already on the market will come forward too.

There are plenty of different paint types you can use and whilst 2k is the most commonly found type,.. there's loads still out there :withstupid:

Until something landmark happens ( i.e you go into halfords/your local diy shop and they don't sell touching up kits, spray cans, roller paint, gloss, cheese strings and arse burgers) I'll just continue as i am. blissfully unaware of the apocalypse.

i could be wrong though that's the only problem (holds head in hands) dammit :dontgetit:
