A bit like TMF... no one replies to a techie problem by just to *woman of ill repute* off the mini: we share our knowledge 'n are all better informed as a consequence.
One thing's for sure with all computer goods, buy it now 'n in a few months it'll be cheaper or better. I'm going to wait another couple of years to replace mine by then I reckon they'll be paying me to take one off their hands .

Mac's are only ok if you want to do design work, or standard office stuff (in which case a PC laptop will do just fine at half the cost). For half the stuff a PC is good at, Mac's are.....not as good (to put it friendly).Mac's are amazing if you can afford it even the cheapest Mac is amazing but i reckon a price of 500 would get you a good laptop.
I would recommend:

Saved about £150 just because its got a tiny scrape.
I was recommented a Dell as they can be upgraded and they are reliable, by the clever IT guy at work.
