im thinking long term about starting my own plumbers merchant, only thing is i dont know where to start about achieving goals like how much ill need, whats involved to start etc. does anyone know about this sort of thing? the idea is to start off selling "bread and butter" lines and using the profit to buy more and expand, eventually getting a unit somewhere and taking on a few people. this is way off from happening but i need to have some idea about how to get there.

Go on Business Link's website, that tells you pretty much everything you need to know about starting and owning your own business.

Here goes 5+ years so far of business and practical education into paragraph, but meh:

Start off with a business plan. It will include, as a bare minimum, .... aims, realistic objectives, mission statement, financial breakdown - budgeted overheads, other expenditure, incomings, how long you think it will take to break even, marketing plan, time plan, .... and loads more to boot. You get the idea though?

If you need more help, gimme a shout :dontgetit: I've got 2 companies and 2 1/2 years of Uni under my belt so far :D

DONT think you need lots of money to start up!!!

I started a house removals company this time last year on £500 and we
are still trading today! I now own 2 vans and have 3 men working for me.

All you got to do is BUDGET and pay yourself the bare minimum!

Good luck!!!!
