Hi guys, I finally managed to get the mini started on Suday after many failed attempts on Thursday night prior to the Ace Cafe meet but now the indicators and break lights won’t work.

I have a feeling this may have something to with the recent dash board works I have carried out because they worked fine prior to this and always seem to fail when I have been fiddling with the clocks.

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be as I'm convinced it must be to do with the clocks but can’t pin point it.

One thought is that I have now detached the clocks from their metal mounting bracket and screwed them to the dash and thought I may have lost an earth but am not sure as the fixing screws to the metal frame don’t seem to pick up an anyway.

the brake light, indicators and reverse light all run of the same fuse, it should be a 35 amp fuse and is located in at the top of the fuse box ( this is on my mini anyway, 89 flame red (carburettor)) check the fuse and change if its gone.....
also if the fuse goes again it could be that the indicator light wire is earthing of the exhaust and as a result blowing the fuse. ( happened mine, bugger to find oput what problem was )
your reverse light switch (wire) is located at a little switch box around where your gear stick is on the underside of the car... there are two wires connected to the switch box, one could have broke off and earths off exhaust..

hope that helps and thats your problem solved :ermm: otherwise me dont know

Cheers guys I will have a look at the fuses when I get home from work tonight if I get time, its possible I shorted something when I had the stereo and clocks out to install the dash.

One other thing I had noticed prior to this problem was that the indicators flashed at their correct speed when the car was moving and the revs were up but slowed down and almost stopped flashing when stationary and idle.

I haven't had a chance to check the fuses yet but could the problem have anything to do with the voltage stabilizer?
