Hey,

A topic not seen on here is information about the run...?

I know you can get the info online etc. But it is often benificial to get information from previous years experience.

I am looking at applying and an information/application pack is winging it's way to me as I write, but there is one issue I have still unanswered.

You have to pay £250 to apply, but how do you raise this money if you are not yet serving a charity??

And the £500 for hotels, is that negotiable? Tent perhaps to be cheaper, or use different hotels?

Please use this thread to voice your questions and queries about the run, as I would like to get some information back on my questoins, but am sure there are many more people out there keen to do the run, but are unsure due to lack of info.

The £250 is, as you say payable by yourself... the entry is actually £500 per team and the £250 is just a securing deposit.
You will need to pay the balance of the additional £250 before you go.

And this total is £500 per TEAM. So if there's 2 of yoou, it's £250 each.

Then there's the hotel package - my advice is not to even consider tents etc on the event (well maybe when making yoour own way to the start) - there's that much going on in the hotels etc you'd miss out on a lot. Plus, some evenings the timescales are tight to get to the hotel, get checked in, then get out again for the evenings fun (Eg Night driving on the Monza F1 circuit during 2007). You get too stay in some fantastic places and it's actually well worth the cost. Again this is payable by yourselves.

Although, if your sponsoors agree to let you, there's the option of payinng the £500 entry fee from the charities money raised but it's not really ethical for a fundraising event. But some people say they'll consider doing this if they raise oover £2000...

I've done 2005 annd 2007.... Not going this year as preparing for the special event in 2009 when we go to Rome !!

My advice is budget on approx £1500 per person for everything (the event entry, hotel package for the event, hotels on the way there, fuel, tolls, personal expenditure, european breakdown cover etc etc).

Carl.
