Not sure where to put this post but i think it falls into this category...
how much are they? where can you get them?
and whats the difference between buying say air horns over "musical" ones or are they the same thing?
i was told i need to be over 30 to own a musical air horn on my mini but i like them!
oh and what tunes do they play?

Musical air horns play a tune, air horns are just a normal horn but loads louder, and using air instead of electric! they sound more unique, and suit the mini.
The ones pictured are just air horns that go horrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrn, but 2 slightly different tones to make a unique sound!
You can get colnol bogey air horns, but these consist of 5 actually 'trumpets' and it can be a job to find places to mount the 5 horns!
Standard twin horns are about £15, musical ones with the 5 trumpets are about £25-£30.. But like i said, can be a b***h to find places to mount the trumpets, and the compressor.
Musical air horns are not MOT friendly, so you still have to keep your standard horn, and have them on seperate switches i think? or have a switch to change which horns are in use!

I got a couple of air horns on ebay for about seven quid including postage and they are mounted as per your photo. It means I don't expect to go anywhere very offroad! There is a switch on the steering column so I can use the mini's original polite peeping sound for wayward pedestrians.
I'm afraid Col Bogey airhorns make me cringe.

No you can't, you need a disc for the compressor head with the song cut into it and there's only three available as far as I know (Colonel Bogey, La-Cucuracha and something else I can't remember the name of). You only have the same five notes to use whatever song you get. A good place for the five horns is under the boot floor secured to the subframe, but use something to stop them filling with crud.
As has been said, Musical horns are not road legal and you will need to keep your standard horn for everyday use.
Over 30? Tell these mentalists they know nothing!

lol i aint got a subframe any more..
ive got a set of 7 mucical horns,
there going onto my mini when ive finished building it again.
but im unsure where is the best place for them..
unside of the back end sounds a good idea but i dont want it to be an eye sore when i jack up the back end for showing etc... out of site would be better if you have any ideas
got mine from a mini show about £10.00 i think....

I've got five, playing the dixie tune. Mounted up in boot to parcel shelf facing the boot lid.
Sounds good, but its also loud in and outside of car.
Air compressor shud be stood straight, so got mine bolted to rear seat area.

Musical airhorns are cool but only on the right car I think. It would be well funny on a Mini, havent heard any being used on one but would make me chuckle.
I went to a classic car show by my house the other day and they had the "General Lee" there from Dukes of Hazard (probably not an original), now that suited the air horns, and I dont care what anyone says  I would do a little tune of how it goes but not being able to make sound .............. it wouldnt really work when you read it lol
You know the tune I mean though right?!
May invest in a set of the normal air horns, I dont like little weedy horns, you need one that will make people jump or take notice, I dont like being ignored lol

At brooklands I remember waiting to buy some parts while the guy selling them (who was also flogging air horns) repeatedly sung bridge over river kwai at a punter who was looking for musical air horns....
so i guess thats another tune for the list. Alternatively just take that bloke with you in your car..I'm sure you could tune him to give more than 5 tones
NEway I think the little 'peep' of mini horns quite suits the car. Its annoying tho when you want to give some grief...it kindof says "excuse me kind sir" rather than "MUPPETTTTTT!"
Air horns in Manta do the job nicely, pretty quiet in the cabin but lairy outside!

Nope, still only three tunes.
The theme to Bridge on the River Kwai is The Colonel Bogey March!!

I want some musical air horns but I dont know where I would mount the 5 trumpets.
On out shogun, the trumpets where behind the grille bit not sure if theres enough room to mount 5 trumpets behind a mini grille.
What about in the boot.

Just a query ... particularly for musical horns, do the air tubes have to be all the same length?
