Hi,

I've fitted a central locking kit to my Mini that was not specifically designed to be fit into a Mini. I have it working fine but I'm a little stuck on what to do with the parking lamp feature.

The central lock kit has the ability to flash the lights when it's locked/un-locked and it also has a car tracer feature that flashes the lights for 25 seconds to help find the car in a car park.

The diagram suggests that the wires from the control box should be connected to "Parking Lamps" should I connect these to the Mini side-light circuit or would it be possible to connect to the indicator/hazzard circuit. Whould I need to add in a realy if connecting to the indicator circuit?

This is the wiring diagram, it's not the best but as I say, I have the central locking working fine i've simiply left the parking lamp wires (purple with fuses) dis-connected at the moment.

Any help would be appreciated.

Luke.

It probably is referring to the sidelights, lots of countries have the sidelights used as a parking lamp circuit operated through the indicator switch. Obviously we have no such requirement over here in Britain although several VAG cars do have it as standard anyway. Fit it if you like but use both supplies from the relay to supply the sidelights whether your car has split sidelights or not because it won't be designed to have all the load on one supply. Having said that I can't see how you can wire that in to the sidelights without the siren sounding constantly all the time the lights are on. You would need diodes that aren't present.

I don't have a siren fitted so that shouldn't matter in this case. I think I'll have a go at the weekend and see how it goes.

Cheers, Luke.

In America they call hazard lights side light i think. I did one of these a couple of weeks ago and you need to wire it to the indicators, hence there are 2 purple wires, one for each indicator to stop them shorting together...

Then when you lock the doors the horn will beep twice and the indicator lights flash.

flash beep flash beep.. lol.

Was it from ebay?

http://images.google...G=Search Images

That shows a google search of parking lights and it shows cars with indicators on so I think i am right?

Hi, Yeah I did buy it from ebay. Thanks for the google search, it helps me loads.

I think I will try hooking it up to the idicators but just before I do, did you need to fit anything additional to the circuit i.e. relays?

Thanks, Luke.
