I am looking at the handle/door escutcheons for my Mini and was wondering just how easy they would be to fit? Is it a case of removing the door car and taking the handle off from the inside first?

(would be cool if you could reply thru Ayrshire Minis too :D) )

Has anyone done this before?

Cheers,

yep u have to take door card off and then take handle off from the inside and then u put the scoop in and re-attach the handle and the handle holds the door scoop in place then re-fit door card and then repeat ont other side sorted :gimme:

When i fitted mine, theres 2 screws holding the handle on, one is easy enough with the door car off, the other one is kind of partially covered by the main locking mechanism (you should be able to see it if you open the door now! The mechanism on the side, which hooks around the hook on the mini shell has a screw behind, if you cant get a driver onto it, you'll have to unscrew the mechanism and slide it out the way, nothing hard or complicated, just a case of unscrew and reattach but sometimes the screws are really tight (i had to use an impact driver) or may have been tampered with before and have been rounded off or something in which case you may need to drill them or something! If your lucky its just a few screws :)

I apologise for my horrific description though! If you need me to re-explain it let me know :gimme:

sorry if this is way wrong but I thought you can undo the screw that is by the lock latch mechanism when the door is open without taking off the door card. Then slide in the scratch guard then re tighten the screw. All that needs doing is to get the handle out enough to get the guard in and the handle holds that on.
