Draper do a decent one 'bout £50 from Argos. you can always buy the odd socket extra, 1 5/16 is pretty much essential if you own a Mini.

I bought one for £20 from Wickes... in the motoring section...

the only extra i've bought really was a brake adjusting spanner...

the spark plug is a special 'sparkplug socket, halfords do them bout a fiver, ther deeper than std for the plug to go into.....

if you get a metric and an imperial socket set, also the spanners and then just add to them when needed, machine mart do a good set i think it was about £30-40 with a good range of both metric and imperial sizes

Most of what you find on a Mini will be imperial, so its pretty essential that you at least get some imperial sockets. If you have a later Rover car, they started to use metric stuff, so a mix of both might be needed for later Minis.

Silverline do a 24 piece set of metric and imperial spanners, nice finish and feel, life-time guaranty and only £14, treated my self to two sets. They do metric and imperial sockets and are also peanuts and excellent quality.

today i found a load of 13mm nuts :proud:

as above really, i would personally go for a 3.8 drive set. sealey do a decent set, got a few imperial sizes, ie the most common, small breaker bac, uj,2 extentions, deep and shallow imperial and metric sockets, all in a lovely metal case

:proud:

I find 13mm one of the most common nut used in cars that i've worked on, its worth having a few 13mm sockets becuase your always hunting around in the tool box for one just at the wrong time

and 24mm is the closest metric socket for the 15/16 sump thats easily available, the halfords near me didnt sell any imperial sockets, infact no where i tried did without having to order it in
