Its a crime... and its called fraud. I'd think the insurer would ask for a proof of purchase anyway.
P.S. and trying to be helpful, if you do take it to be repaired, DON'T take it to PC world they employee far to many spanners and don't seem to offer much training. Take it to a local PC repair shop run by techy enthusiasts, they are more likely to fix the problem and less likely to rip you off!
