i'm currently making a dashboard for my '84 mini city, i have the center clock and am wondering if it is possible to move the gauge forward and flat so i can just use one piece of wood. sorry if this is a repeat Q i have searched over and over and aam new to the forum. i.m sure i've seen pics of it done. any info would be much appreciated....

Of course it's possible! It's been so commonly done over the years that all the major Mini specialists keep the longer speedo cable you will require as a stock item. Welcome to the forum.

yeh all you wil need really is a longer speedo cable and I would say the wiring shold be long enough. try an austin healey speedo cable as they are proper long...so no tight flexing leading to the cables snapping

Ive just replaced the clocks in my '85 City E, and the only thing you would need, as the other have said is to sort a longer speedo cable.

the centre speedo is amazing. love its looks
i made my own dash. moved the clocks forward.
the speedo cable out of my dads 1275 midget worked a treat

Sorry to hijack but how long would the cable have to be?
If it's too long isn't it likely to wear out quicker or is that just a stupid aspect of my brain telling me things that arent true
