I'm preparing to pull out the door cards and rear cards for re-covering. I've read in a few other threads here and elsewhere that the rears are simply "pressed" in and "are a right pain to remove cleanly", but I'm having issues finding photos/diagrams of the cards and fasteners - can someone out there share your wisdon on what worked well/didn't work at all? For example, do the rear side pockets need to be loosened or removed to pull pull out the rear cards?

I'll have the entire interior out of the car shortly (replacing carpeting, seat covers and all door furniture all in one go), so if something blocking the cards must be removed, it likely will be.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

push the cards down and in in the middle and the top will drop out of the lip

then just lift away

Sounds simple when you say it that way... Wonder what others' problem(s) were? I'll take a look when I get my seats out - thanks!!

Getting them back in is the hard part

you need to tuck the card under the lip in the top, and if you have thick padded covered cards, it's a royal pain to get 'em in

Argh!

I'm planning on using 1/8" Masonite or similar for the replacement cards, wrapped in leatherette. I'll try to keep the padding under the material to a minimum on the edges, based on the clearance of the clips. Sounds like a "3 beer job" at minimum. :D

In my case getting them out was easy, i had new ones to go in, so went in and ripped em out in a few seconds, with no concern for them

however i took a bit more time getting the shiny new ones in

Sounds like my nylon trim removal tools will finally come in handy in the classic.
