Lily had some new brake pads today! :( Its stopped the annoying squeaking, so maybe I can drive without the embarassment now! The down side is, that shes still making a horrible grinding noise :ermm: I dont know what else it can be :dontgetit:

I now need to go get her some more shampoo and give her a bubble bath! :dontgetit:

Took Lily to Gaydon yesterday and ended up spending way too much money on her! >_< Bought her a stage 1 kit and also some new rear dampers (replaced the front ones a few months back) Just need to get everything fitted now!

Hmmm, quick update..theres been a few problems with the stage 1 kit fitting! Got the exhaust and manifold fitted, but Lil was running really rough. Took her to a rolling road the next day, the guy put her on the rolling road once, but the heat coming of the exhaust was heating the float chamber and making the petrol boil  He sent me away and told me to get a heat shield and then take her back so he could tune her up properly. He also found that the subframe mounts need replacing as my engine was a tad bit wobbly. Anyway..decided to get exhaust wrap rather than a heat shield, so went and bought some and the fella put it on..did the job, but it doesnt half stink!! Took her on a test drive but the throttle cable needed adjusting, went to change it and the bolt snapped off >_< Ordered a new one last monday, but its still not arrived :dozing: So Ive been miniless for a week and a half :(

On a more positive note, got her some new wing mirrors which did come and I fitted them today, there the same as her old ones, minus the flakey paint! :P

Also got the rear shocks fitted I bought at Gaydon, cant believe the difference in handling!!

Took Lily to the Rolling Road yesterday, had her distributor refurbished too. She got 56bhp at the flywheel and 38bhp at the wheels. Dont really know how good it is, but the guy said it was really good for a 998.. :dontgetit:

Shes now running wonderfully

All together it came to £180 for the dizzy refurb and the RR, she was on the rollers for an hour and a half. I definately reccomend going to Aldon, there really good, the guy who was doing the work was really sound and he had a mini! It was parked outside!

She was running really rough so I took her to my mates and he gave her a check. Hes found that the crank is moving, so I cant drive her and she needs her engine rebuilding :) I have someone whos going to rebuild it :o He used to build engines before he retired and he said that he'll do it if I buy all the bits :D

In the meantime, Im cleaning my garage out today so I can put her in there so she can have a nice rest ^_^ and while shes off the road, im driving the fellas Mazda! ;)

So this thread, will be turning into the 'rebuilding Lilys engine' thread :D Just as soon as I get some money!

Oh no I'm really sorry to hear that Saz, at least you took her off the road before the engine was completely cream crackered! Hope you get it sorted soon.

Would it be any cheaper and quicker to buy a second hand engine? I bought Vern an unleaded for £80 a few years ago and it's done me proud so far.

Hehe, thanks Bec. I had thought about it, but you have to take the gamble that there wont be anything wrong with the one you buy! :D I might have another look into it :(
