Brown - First ignition position
White - Second Ignition Position
White and Red - Crank position
Wipers
This covers the wash, intermittent, slow and high...
Brown and Light Green - Slow wipe
Orange and Red - Intermittent wipe
Red and Light Green - Fast wipe
Light Green and Orange - goes to "flick switch one" whatever that is...
Blue and Light Green - goes to "flick switch 2" whatever that is...
Lights
Brown - power in
Red - Sidelights
Blue and Red - Dipped beam
Blue and White - Main beam
Blue - feed for the Rear Fog Lights
Indicators
Light Green and Brown - positive feed for indicators
Green and Red - Left Indicator
Green and White - Right Indicator
Airbag - doesn't affect carb minis and SPi but still useful to know what they are...
Yellow
Red
Horn
Black - Earth
Purple and Black - Live
I hope this helps... i've just drawn together a lot of time staring at the wiring diagram and this is how I perceive it...
Perhaps a mod could pin this??? seems like the kind of question that might get asked a few times???
Cheers
Tom

I've just fitted the colum into my car today and was scratching my head with the wiring for the mpi stalks.
This will save me loads of time as i was sitting with a multi meter going through one by one.
Any chance you have what the wiring for the pre MPI stalks is too?
Cheers, Mark.
Edit....
Light Green and Orange - goes to "flick switch one" whatever that is...
Blue and Light Green - goes to "flick switch 2" whatever that is...
My Accord has the exact same stalks as the MPI mini ones i'm fitting, and if the wiper system works the same, then the flick switch 1 is just like a regular flick wipe atthe normal speed, but if you hold the flick wipe in the Accord for longer than a second, it does a flick wipe at the fast speed, which might account for the flick switch 2?

Just waiting on a new set of stalks then i can continue.
Details and pics of what i'm doing and how are in my project thread here......

Basically, connecting the mpi plug in loom to the original so it just plugs in.

it's alright, got the wipers and indicator looms sorted, but the headlight switch is broken on my mpi stalks so i had a bit problem tracing out the wiring.

Bamby's stalk hasn't got any connectors, so it's splicing wires...
would be interested to know how you got your wipers to work...

but, i have some test gear i use for work which helped finding which wires short at the different positions. Basically for the wipers, the int. isn't going to be used as i don't have int. wipers, so that's being joined with the speed 1, then fast wipe is indepndant.

Tom - flick wipe 1 and 2 is probably the same as what's in my accord. If you flick the wiper breifly, it'll do 1 sweep at the slow speed, but if you hold it in the flick position, it does the sweep at the faster speed. That's probably wired through a control unit though , but all i did was, I just wired mine to the faster speed for the flick wipe.
If anyone's having trouble tracing out which wire does what, i used some test gear i use for work (about £600 worth lol) to trace them all out, , and i have all the wiring diagrams/notes i made when doing mine so could re-write them as a guideon here for people to use?
Not sure about anyone else, but i've made it so that the new stalks use the plugs off the old ones so they just plug into the original loom of the car. Also, on the ignition barrell (if you're putting in the MPI one, all of the colours on the old and new match up, with the exception of the yellow which is connected to full ignition (position 2) and was probably used fo the fuel pump etc. I'll be using it as a feed for a ciggy lighter so it powers off when the ignition's off.

I'm trying to do the same thing. Could I have a look at the diagrams you made please?

Can I just buy an MGF set of stalks and use them then? I hope so...

I'd really like to do this mod (to allow front fog switch on my 5 switch panel) - anyone have an answer?

Sorry - should have said - for a 1995 Mini Mayfair!
