I dont really get what your planning to do but to me it looks chromed, so for you to weld it you'd have to grind/sand off the chroming coat so your down to the bare metal and weld that or else it will be a bad bad weld! Also as its a light i'd suggest taking out the glass as a precaution as it may decide to crack/be spattered with sparky bits

Stardude, it probably will, but it all depends what bits he's welding where and if it matter to him! ie if its on the back around the base and you dont see it etc, but like i said i dont really get what he's doing

P.S, im assuming ginger monkey is a he, if he is indeed a she then swap she for all the he's above!

Last time I looked I was a HE but I haven't checked for a little while, hope i'm still all the same >_<

As for the lights the idea is I need to cut down the back part as it's sticking out too far and so will hit the alt as they are getting mounted into the grille. Not too worried about the look of the chrome and it'll be detatched from the lamp itself so not worried about breaking the glass. Just a case of can it be welded. I understand i might have to grind down to normal metal.

Id imagine it can be welded then, depending on the metal of course  but im sure if you had a mig welder you could do something, but if its solid stainless or something then you may need a tig!

I'm using a mig. Well I'm gonna have to cut it down anyway so I'll have a practise on what I cut out then see where i go from there.

want to have something different and these are bigger than normal grille lamps. plus got them at a good price. Was gonna go the whole hog and fit super oscars but they were a little too big to fit on the grille.

Before you cut them, it's worth checking the clearance between the bulb holder and back of the lamp.
