i'm driving a 1.3i mini Rover (A). milage 72000km. used on daily basis (~20-30km daily). it's our second car, but i love to use it over our new ride. the gearbox and engine has been a bless until a couple of days ago. i'll try to describe the problem as detail as possible. since english is not my main language, so please bare with my writing.
problem statement : the engine stalled only when i moved to reverse gear. fyi, the engine idle speed was at ~900-1000 rpm, and it was steady. however when the gear sticked was moved to R, the rpm suddenly dropped down, the engine shaked and stalled soon after. if the gear stick was moved to N or 1,2,3 or D, the rpm back to normal. one point to note, the reverse gear was engaged perfectly. no funny sound whatsoever appeared and i could feel the car was about to move but it stopped when the engine stalled. i have tried to press the accelerator cable while in R (of course with the handbrake up) but the engine rpm did'nt move up. in order to avoid the engine died, i'd to quickly moved to N or D. the car drive well in 1,2,3 and D. so, right now, i'm driving without the R gear.

if anyone experience this kind of problem before, i would very appreciate an advice. thank you.
