I have a Pre A+ 998 engine that i am building up with a k100 head. i want to fit a better oil pump but am unsure what will fit other than the 3 bolt type pin drive version.

this one: http://www.minispare....aspx?pid=35993

can i fit a turbo oil pump? or standard 2 bolt slot drive type affair? like this: http://www.minispare....aspx?pid=34203 or this: http://www.minispare....aspx?pid=32665

The turbo one won't fit because the bolt holes are in the wrong place and the drive pin is too long (same goes for all 1275 pumps). The highest capacity 998 pump I have found was supplied to me by Morspeed, I'm sure he will ship you one.

Morspeed ones are spade drive types, so you might need to change your cam, I guess any will do in your case.

This is the MS equivalent http://www.minispare....aspx?pid=33822

You can fit a turbo one as i have one fitted to a 1000cc turbo engine i have built, you will need to modify it, you have to drill one of the holes in the bottom of the pump to a slightly bigger size and all the way through and then drill one of the holes out that normaly has the screw in that holds the lid on, this will allow you to bolt it on with the original 3 bolts. you then need to cut the drive pin down and cut the flat bits further up the drive pin.

The other way to do it is to drill and tap the block to use the 2 bolt mounting the 1275cc pumps use (one of the holes is in the right place already) you will still need to cut the pin down.

I did think of this a few years ago, but it seemed like a lot of effort for the small amount of extra capacity. I have the standard 998 pump (70,000 miles old)feeding my T2 no problems.

But it's certinally another option worth considering.
