3hp motor is about the biggest you can run happily on normal single phase wiring and 150 litre tank is pretty good it will deppend on the cfm of the pump wether it will keep up with some air tools spray guns usually use aprox 8cfm but gravity fed ones are better than suction and depends what you want to spray

today you read my mind as i want to do a spray job on my mini but am not sure as to what kind of compressor i need.
Does the amount of psi really affect the paint work at all when done.......anyone?

every spray gun has a psi range too low and it wont atomise the paint too high and you will have more paint in the air than on the panel so it is quite important.

Wow never really thought of it like that.....any idea what the ideal psi would be for a compressor??

So i've picked it up and it works ok,

but i have no instructions so any basic tips?:

does anyone know what the 2 gauges are? the one on the left i'm guessing is a regulator as it has turnable knob on the top and i assume that i use this to set to the tools useage? i.e my sander needs 90 psi so turn it down so the needle sits at 90?

what the other one? pressure in tank? this rises to 150 then the motor cuts off.

the oil window has dot in the middle and the oil is upto the dot - so oil level ok right?

one last thing until i think of another - my sander uses the air like a b****rd - is this normal - i can sand for about a minute before the motor cuts in and then the pressure slowly drops while using it - ie the tool used more air than the compressor can supply. It is big b****rd and 3hp.

all help appreciated :shy:

Hiya yeah as you stated the second guage is for the tank pressure. oil level sounds spot on and yeah sanders air grinders use loads of air the cfm number of these is huge just have to let it build the pressure back up. it might be an idea to pull the air filter off and clean it out so many compressors get left this can transform the speed it fills the tank
