Hi all,

I've have been gearing up to buying a new set of wheels and tyres for a while now, and i have narrowed down the selection to either 13 X6 Revolutions or 13 X 6 Weller Motorsport wheels. At the moment I have 13 X 7" Performance minilight style things with bold tyres (blasted 286 cam! :shy: and am hoping losing an inch will aid handling and free up some unsprung weight.

no matter what i will be shodding them in yoko A539's or a038's if i can afford them.

so the question is which are better from a performance/ competition point of view? basically which will be lighter and by how much? I know the weller is steel but im wondering if there is much in it (if any). Or is there another 13" wheel that is light and not overly expensive?

please dont tell me about performance and going for 10"ers- I have big costly brakes that i am not going to change! besides i like 13"

apart from the 10" thing any advice, or comments will be appreciated.

thanks.

I would imagine the alloy wheel will be about 1/2 the weight.

FYI, A032s are 10" tyres, A048s are 13" and above.

yes, i would have thought that the steel might have been a little heavier, but not my much as steel would be stronger and therefore you could afford to have the wheel thinner, as opposed to alloys where they are quite thick to get the strength back.

Any chance you could weigh them if its not too much trouble robson?

There is a huge weight difference between my 13" Sportspack wheels and my 10" Cooper S reps. They are both alloy.

It does all depend on which wheel it is, what type of alloy, which design. Cheapo alloys will weigh quite a lot, where as very expensive Magnesium alloys will be extremely lightweight!

All weights should be done without the tyre, as they make up a large portion of the weight of a wheel/tyre.
