Hi
I now have a 200 Cooper Sport in British racing green pearlescent. I have a small rust bubble on the edge the cowl about the size of a 5p piece. Because the paint is pearlescent BRG, can I fix this myself, or is it best left to a garage?

Does a paint shop do this type of thing?

The car is otherwise in perfect new condition and I don't want to make it worse! Thanks
John

Hi
I will look tomorrow, but if it is surface rust (which i am sure it is) what is the best course of action considering this is BRG pearlescent?
Cheers

The colour/type of paint makes no difference really as to how to rectify the problem, the process is the same for whatever colour. Bare metal the area, remove as much of the corrosion as possible, apply rust eater, followed by a skim of good quality body filler, zinc prime the bare metal areas remaining around the edge of the filler, prime as normal, prep and paint. Once rust has started, there is no way of stopping it entirely, the only way is to replace the panel, or cut it out and weld in a patch, but that's not ideal, if you value the originality of the car.

Think your more concerned with the paint match/touch up after the rust has been dealt with, if so unless you’re really good, metallics/pearls are the worst colours to spray/match at home.
