Just a little rant about speeding cars in residential areas.

2 Weeks ago my wife came home to find one of our cats in next doors drive crying with pain, it had a broken pelvis, large gash down one of it's back legs and some internal injuries according to the vet.

It's been very touch and go if he'll make it or not, initially he was so poorly that they could put him to sleep for Xrays but after a week they were able to, hence finding the broken pelvis, bit by bit he's been getting better and last weekend he was allowed a home visit and it was good to get him back.

He's now back at the vets and is having major problems in the toilet area, i.e. not been able to go.

The really sad thing is apart from this he seems to be making a good recovery, now if nothing improves by the end of the week we are going to have "to have a difficult conversation" as the vet put it.

We've had Paddy (the cats name, named after Hopkirk if antones wondering) and his brother from tiny kittens, they are now 7 yeras old.

Now all this has happened because some silly idiot was driving too fast down our road, and we've onlt been in the house 2 months, I've got a distraught wife that breaks down at the very mention of cats or even when someone asks about Paddy and not that's important but adds more pain the Vets bill is at over £900 so far.

Sorry to bother you all about this but I just had to get my frustartion out and this seems to have helped.

its a sad thing a dear friend of the family has had two cats killed this way and shed full of birds killed by vandals breaking in and pulling their heads off! Hope he gets better!

Maybe some Mini killing speed bumps would slow them down.

Sorry to hear that. If poor Paddy doesn't make it then you still have his brother to carry on cuddling.
My puddytat got whacked in the road outside our house too.

;D I hope he makes a good recovery.

One of our cats went missing in September last year. I say cat, him and (what we called) his brother were about 6 months old at the time, and we only let them outside when we were around. Pebbles and Lenny  they were from different mothers but we took them both in within a few weeks of each other when they were approx 3 months old and they acted as though they were brothers.

Then one night Pebbles didn't come home... we shouted him, looked up and down the street, nothing. We left him, 'because they always come back. The next evening he still wasn't back and we hadn't seen him. Went for a drive and found him next to the road that runs along the bottom of our road, with his guts all over the road :D . The thing is, it's probably not the drivers fault - but he had a collar on with my telephone number on it. And either the driver had stopped and moved him to the side of the road (onto a traffic island road narrower thing) or someone else had seen him and moved him - neither had looked at his collar and got my number. Which is deeply upsetting. He's buried in the garden now though and Lenny has a sister to keep him company :w00t:

Speed humps won't make a difference, Pebbles got run over more or less "on" a speed hump.

Im really sorry to hear that mate, really bad. Hope the poor little critter makes it. its hard but if needed the vet knows he has to do it.

The day I passed my driving test I was driving through the park, a hedgehog scampered out in front of me, I jammed the brakes on and skidded into the kerb, gaining my first scratch!

 Thats so sad i get so worried about my cats as one has a bad leg, especially my kitten as she doesn't know what cars are yet and to run away from them.

My friend said her dad hit a cat and just drove off and that made me so angry because if someone hit one of mine, i'd want them to come tell me so i can get it help as quick as i can.

I nearly hit a cat down rachs road this time last year i had to do a emergancy stop ;D

Sorry to hear this, hope paddy is ok.

Sorry to go off topic slightly but if somone did phone you and said they had hit your cat would you be mad with them for hitting your cat or thankful they stopped to phone you? I don't think I could just drive off id I hit a cat but I would be incredibly nervous about phoning the owner

To continue off topic......when my Huxley got run over, a bloke phoned us up. Left a message on the answer phone saying he had moved his body to the verge. I dunno if it was the guy who hit him or not. When I phoned him back, I didn't want to know & I didn't ask. What would be the point? I was just glad that someody bothered to tell us or we would have been looking for him for days. He was cold & rigid by the time we got to him. ;D

My wee cat is a sensible thing, I've never seen him go anywhere near the road, I think he is scared, he just sits on the fences or shed and watches everyone lol

Sorry to hear about your cat, its not nice when they are hit, we once had one and a neighbour came running in to tell us some arse had runn it over, not a nice sight

Quick update:

Got home and my wife spent about an hour at the vets giving lots of cuddles to Paddy, he's now on a drip and has a cathiter (excuse spelling) to help his bladder, he's comfy and been well looked after, so no bad nes or good at the moment. I'll keep you all updated.

Here's a little pic of Paddy
