Hey guys n girls,

help required, im just about to order a cage and i would like to check something with you all. I am running harness, and so would like a rear harness bar to attach them to. In this diagram below, would it be ok to weld a bar (shown by the red line) in the position shown. I have rubbed out certain parts of the cage to help show what i mean. But basically the bar would go from either rear 'leg' of the cage, and weld on the diagonal rear bar.

Would this work? Cage is an OMP 6 point bolt in, if it helps

Cheers
James

cant you weld eyelets onto the diagonal?

safety devices do a diagonal with eyelets already in.....

but if i run 4 point harnesses, the straps will be different heights.
Anything wrong with my suggested plan in the diagram?

If I was you I'd just get a normal rear cage without the rear diagonal. A rear diagonal isn't really needed unless your going to be using this for competitive motorsport? Without it you'll have no problem getting the rear cage installed in the car, and then you can just take one length of tube and weld it to the rear legs. The Safety Devices harness bar is a T-shape, with a leg that comes down and ties into the exhaust tunnel.

I personally can't see any problem without doing as you plan, but your going to have some fun getting the notching close for welding on to the rear diagonal. I don't have much experience of rollcages though, so I'd phone a company like Roll Centre just to confirm if they'd be happy with your idea.

Also, bear in mind that any modifications you make to a roll cage may invalidate any FIA certification or warranty.

If you do phone Roll Centre enquire as to how much they'd charge for a harness bar. I know Safety Devices one is about ~£170.
