the sunroof we fitted came out of a British open classic mini

the drain tubes on this roof were caped off and didn't go anywhere , as the mini was garaged and wasn't used much we didn't do anything with the drain tubes and left them caped off

On my metros sunroof they run down the A-post if that helps with routing.

Also id think the best place to exit the tube would be either just potruding the outer sill vent or coming out near the underside of the door.

Sorry about the thread revival, but thanks for replying Bungle!

In my first year of ownership having capped drains didn't impact us much either because A) I didn't drive my Mini as much except very nice days since I was doing a lot of resto work on it and B) the top was closing all the way.

Somehow the driver's side cable has skipped a tooth or two recently and the front rail/rib is only coming to about 1/4" away from full closure.  This is allowing more water into the management channels than before so now it's a rivulet/mini-waterfall on the missus's lap every time I stop for a red light when it's rained or is raining...

Need to do sumtin' fast!

PS: I forgot to say: Great Bat-Graphic!  (I'm a terrific Batman fan, so it was really apropos.  Is it an Alex Ross?  Looks like it.)

I appreciate the detailed post Rally515 - so you were able to get down the A-Pillar...That's encouraging considering MR J gave some thoughts on getting the rear tubes routed.

I haven't been under the headliner myself yet (I found out about the caps when I had a convertible tops guy looking at the cable-skip), so I'll need to try a snake in the Mini's A-Pillar and see what I can do.

I'm expecting there will be some amount of drilling no matter what, eh?

(any recollection of the tube size that you used?)

Thanks so much,

Jim

Detailed ? i thought i was being quite vague actualy   .

Here are some photos from the Metro tubing:

Some holes will more than likely have to be drilled yes, but isn't to hard of a job to drill through the inner roof rails with a stepper drill in four places, always make sure you route the drain tubes to flow down hill, i'e' Not up into a high drilled hole and then down the A-post.

At a complete guess id say the tube would be a 12mm outside diameter and 7mm internal diameter, you want tubing thats going to allow abit of crud to pass through as a blocked tube is never fun (piece of crafting wire to unblock ;D ).

Sorry Bungle, disturbing this most ancient thread :shy: ,

Cliff
