I performed a search but didn't find anything that helped.

I had run a set of hella and lucas spots before (three of) with no troubles. I have just replaced them with two cibie oscars runnning 100w bulbs. When wired up they won't come on with the full beam but I can hear a clicking noise coming from what I belive to be the relay. All the other lights are working fine. I've earthed the spots as best as I can.

I can see the 100w bulbs being the problem but how can I go about sorting it?

Thanks,

Kyle.

Some more information.

The spot lights are activated when you either pull back the full beam stalk (as if to flash someone) and when you push the stalk away to have them permantly on. There is a further switch just for the spots to stop them coming on when you want to use fullbeam without spots.

The clicking noise is only coming on when the spot light switch is on, and you are pulling the stalk towards you but not when you push it away from you.

Have you grounded the body of the lamp itself?

The earth wire connects directly to the bolt on the cibies, which is then connected to the spot lamp bar. I've checked the earth as thats what I thought was the problem. I'll double check all the earths tommoro when theres some light about. Although I'm certain the earths are fine.

Cheers.

Presumably there is a fuse in the relay supply. Have you checked it? I'm guessing that the three lamps fitted previously would have had 55 watt bulbs totaling 165 watts which would have run fine on a 15 amp fuse (which is what tends to come with spot lamp wiring kits) while two 100 watt bulbs would blow the same fuse instantly.
