Hi every one got some pictures from the javelin track day i did some time ago so just thought i might post for anyone whos interested, also im sorry for having on possibly the worst crash helmet in the world :P  , in my defense it was free  and i didnt see the point in buying a helmet and then finding out i didnt like the track-however this still hasnt stopped most people i know extracting the 'yellow human water' so feel free to do so! :xxx:

Also i feel it noteworthy that in the first few shots i may appear to be in front of just about everyone else, let me assure you that this was not the case all day and in fact these were the sighting laps-you may notice the front wheel of a berlingo van in one pic-and i had a job keeping up with him!! :teehee:

Nice car..
How did you find Elvington, I mean to try it this year but never used an airfield. I would be afraid of getting lost (old person) amongst the cones :P

Hi there, i thought it was a great track especially good for beginners because there is loads of run off and its a simple lay out,i think pros might get bored because they like things to be more demanding (thats only my opinion though which is limited to this one track!).As for the cones-yes it is quite confusing when you look through the side window and the whole thing looks like a random scattering of cones but they do 3 full sighting laps of the track at the start to get you used to the layout and positions you should be while cornering ect and javelin who organised that one are extremely good, i found once i had been round 5 or 6 times it was quite easy theres not a lot to remember and if you do make a mistake, as long as you keep you eyes on everyone else its not a problem

Hiya bud,its well worth a try i had a good day, the Elvington track is next to the air museum, they might drag race there but i have never seen it advertised, the drag racing you may be thinking of is actually at york raceway which is south of elvington somewhere near Seaton Ross as i remember-going there for the minis vs beetles day on easter sunday-thats always a good day out

cheers oli

Hiya, sorry i knew nothing of your sighting lap misdirection actually :o , i only wish i had then i could have took the mick a bit more! Not that i have anything to actually feel superior about- i think on one spin i ended up a further distance away from the track than most of the spectators were away from it at the other side! :(

As for the tyres(and please bear in mind i am far from an expert) i had yoko a539's on which are more a road tyre, most other people had slicks or cut tarmac tyres and i think it would have made a vast difference on my car.Because the tyres were quite hard we didnt seem to get much wear at all, prob only 20-30% of the life gone. The concrete at the start of the day is very slippy and they warn you that the track will be a bit green for the first few hours but after that is seems ok, although i have nothing to compare it with!! :dozing:

I take it you needed to fit the second exhaust box to get under sound limit on the day? How was it for sound levels? How strict are they?

Hiya, as i dont have a sound meter to check, and had picked up from posts on here that as standard they were on the limit of most tracks i has the exhuast made by z's a few weeks before- really just as a case of better safe than sorry. When i went to pick it up Richard very kindly measured the sound level for me-i cant remember the figures off the top of me head but i know it was miles under with the second silencer on,so i just drove it home, stuck it in the garage and left in on till the day.

The limit for elvington is 102dba Static 90dba Drive By @40mtrs as taken from javelins website. When i went they tested everyone as we lined up for the sighting laps and they pulled a few guys back in, i think at least one wasnt allowed out again, and i saw the guy out with the sound meter doing the drive by tests so they seem to stick to it-very well organised though and a nice bunch of people at javelin.
