Does anyone know the correct engine colour for a 71 car?
Should it be Black or Austin / Morris Green or something else?

Thanks

Black. All BLMC / Leyland era engines were black.

i have an early 71 mk3 cooper s that has a green engine. according to simon wheatcroft when he looked at the car at the mini cooper day the engine was the correct colour and that it is a myth that all mk3 engines were black. my car has a centre start below the centre binacle and a mk2 boot handle which is also correct for that car.

rusty cooper is right, my 1970 mini 850 was painted green (including the gearbox and rocker cover, etc!), and it also has the mk2 boot handle...oh and a magic wand gearbox!
