Porsche say they are going to challenge Ken Livingston over the legality of the extra congestion charge for gas guzzlers. Who are you backing?

I'm backing Porsche of course, but nothing will come out of this. Anything Kenny says goes.

I think that's the idea, well it's supposed to be  , it's supposed to cost so much that you hop on the Tube instead. I guess part of the logic is, if you can afford a Porsche the standard charge isn't enough of a disincentive.

I think its actually any car over a certain engine size depending on emmisions. so guess what all you mini lovers with 2.0 16v conversion, you could be in the bracket to!!

What they need to remember is not all people with Porsches are minted. Early porsches can be picked up cheap but have big engine sizes so as far as i am concerned this country is just greedy and run by a bunch of over age school kids who want to see what they can mess up next....DOH!!! On my soap box again!!

I think it's another attempt by The Newt Fancier to try & publicly humiliate the subsection of London society that he most dislikes - car-owning members of parliament.

Not sure that Porsche are going to get very far if their best argument is as follows:

Andy Goss, managing director of Porsche GB, said: "A massive congestion charge increase is quite simply unjust."

Yes, Andy. It's not fair! It might affect your sales! Shout & stamp your foot. :) Then pay a high-flying lawyer to have a temper tantrum too.

Don't forget to declare your 'members interest' Wayne :)

Juju is right, of course, Ken is using flash car owners as populist whipping boys. God alone knows why Porsche have taken him on then  - The MD's ego?

You'll be ok Wayne - you're one of us now
Save the Porker for thrashing up the motorway 'n set your Mini loose on the city.

It all well and good if this charge did increase the speed and decrease the polution in the city centre as its ment to but it dose not do this charge has no effect and then increaseing the costs will not do a thing other then increase the income for it which at the moment alot of the charge gose to the running of the system (about 80 percent i think) since its so demanding.

Livingstone is well know as a radical which what he wants goes hes a man without anyone to keep him in check. :)

how about R1 minis which have electric reverse are they except since they are hybrid

Lets note that this isn't a blanket £25 for all to drive into London, its just for the 'most pollutant' vehicles.

Personally I think £25 a day to drive into London is massively excessive, but I do think that something has to be done to stop CARS driving into London.

I also think that ALL the money raised from these congestion charges should be ploughed back into public transport schemes.

I like how it was originally for 'congestion' - now the little troll is adding the, frankly, ridiculous pollution issue on to it.

He wants more people to travel the already over packed tube system? I wonder when he last went on public transport? Apart, of course, from those 'photo op' times...

Meanwhile, Red Ken turns up to his meetings in a 57 plate Range Rover... so we end up paying for his congestion charge.

He makes me see red everytime I hear his name! Grrrr
