Hi all

Today, as i was driving, the speedo needle was bouncing especially between 50 and 60mph... and progressively got worst...

and eventually just died! Now i got no speedo...

What happened?

The cables snapped most likely.

When refitting the new one make sure no real sharp bends in the cable, keep the bends as long as possible

As stated above, start with the cable as the most likely cause.

However, if the needle was bouncing and then suddenly pegs (and subsequently stays) all the way to the right... that indicates a serious problem inside the gauge.

OK thanx. will have a look tomorrow. As for the needle staying to the right, no its not. It stays at Zero...

Now if i can just get a new centre speedo cable cheapish in Malaysia...

Check the cables pushed properly into the back of the gauge first. If you didn't get it all the way in before then it might of just fell out.

I doubt needle bounce as anything to do with the coil on the speedo, theres no electrical connection unless you count the dial illumination :)

Your probably thinking of the tachometer (rev counter)
