obviously it would mean more trimming of the arches but would it foul anything else?
or is ther any other tyres that would fit as 175/50/13 are hard to get secondhand and dear to buy new!

doing the math a 175/60x13 tyre would increase the diameter from 505mm to 540mm, or +35mm which is a lot... The clearance on the rear radius arm would be your problem aswell as the turning clearance on the front wheels...
even a 165/60x13 would be problematical, especially on a 7" rim, you should really not go any thinner than a 175 on 7" rims as you're starting to stretch the tyre.
so the long and short of it is... if you have 13" rims, then you need a 175/50 or 195/45...
