Really as the title says, The indicators on my car only flash on one side, I have replaced the flasher and still no joy.

I have had a look at the Haynes diagram and suspect that the hazzard warning switch may be at fault?

Also confession time!!! :(

Whilst removing the front wings I got a bit carried away with the drill and caught the loom!!!!

There were a few sparks but I have stripped the loom back and repaired the loom as necessary.

Oh yeah, its a H plate Cooper

Any Thoughts

Mine were doing that, I cleaned up the connectors leading to each individual indicator unit and they worked again.

My left hand ones stopped flashing and when I looked under the bonnet it turned out that some of the wires had come loose, got hooked on the bonnet catch and been pulled onto the alternator where they'd been shredded. I just whipped a connector on there and zip tied them back.

Just an idea.

if all bulbs are working, i could be due to a bad earth or connection

The hazzards do work correctly, the passengers side works fine off the switch.

The car was fitted with a crappy cheapo home fitted alarm, so I took that out - still no joy!!

The drivers side front indicator doesn't light at all, just the wing repeater and rear.

I will double check all of the connections tomorrow evening.

I have a suspicion that when I drilled the loom it fried the Hazzard switch?

You may as well start with checking wires aren't corroded/earthing because that's the cheapest start. Then start looking at the hazard switch, and flasher units. It can't really be anything else :( maybe a tired battery? As a last resort. My indicators wouldn't flash normally, they'd just stay on for about 5 seconds then flicker off and back on... and after replacing the battery they worked fine.

it every thing lights up with the hazard switch then it can't be a dodgy earth or the wiring to the indicators

i would replace the switch

Thats a good point!!!!

I can't nick one off my other Mini because its too early to need hazzards!!
