Hello, i may well be being dense but i am not sure which carb i have.
the only identifying marks are JZX with 1611 underneath on one side of the float chamber and on the other side there is an f (in itallics with a border round) a 3 and then the number 89 surrounded by a wheel like design. i measured across the throat where it joins the inlet manifold and its 1 3/4" if that helps. there is a tab attached to one of the dashpot screws with FZX1524. The choke appears to have JZX1609 stamped in to it and the throttle has JZX 1605. oh also there is 1127 stamped where the carb bolts to the inlet manifold (4 bolt) and the dash pot cap has LZX 1511 written on it. The carb doesn't look like either the hs2 or hs4 as shown in the haynes manual, float chamber is inline with the dashpot and body for example. Any help gladly appreciated. Cheers

cheers people. I just had a look at a photo of an hif44 and it is pretty darn close. Only thing is where the carb meets the manifold, mine has a sqare shaped face with a crescent shape cut out of each side. The photo of an hif44 i looked at has an oblong face with the bottom two corners cut off. Any thoughts? cheers again

One of the best carbs you can fit to a large bore engine. Good blend of performance and economy.

That is the rear, air filter face of the HIF. You're looking at the opposite sides on the two you are comparing.

Your carb was originally fitted to a 1986 1300cc unleaded Metro, its a HIF 44 and originally had a BEJ needle
