I bought my Mini Cooper 1994 spi with a Laserline 948 alarm and immobiliser already installed but I did not have a key fob and the alarm had been disconnected. I have since managed to get a key fob and wire the alarm back up. To wire it in again I simply found the 2 ends of the wire that was cut and soldered them together. It was a black wire from the alarm and 2 pinky orange wires that were soldered together that I soldered it to.
But here is the problem I think I have wired it up wrong as this is what happens when I try and use the alarm.

Alarm only activates or deactives when the bonnet or door is open.

When door and bonnet is shut you cannot activate or deactivate the alarm

If the door is open and the alarm goes off shutting the door turns the alarm off, but
opening the door starts the alarm off again

When alarm is armed and the doors and bonnet shut the LED on the dash does not flash, when
bonnet is opened LED flashes but after a while the alarm goes off.

The courtesy light in the car is set to come on when the door or bonnet is open.

Im wondering if I have somehow wired the alarm into the courtesy light loop on the wiring.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated

Pinky orange? The wiring in a car is colour coded, if you give us the right colour (the main colour and the colour of the stripe if there is one) we'll know what circuit you've used. On better quality alarms all the wires are black so you could have connected it to anything at the alarm end really. Can you find the makers website and download instructions for this model of alarm?

It is definately a black wire at the alarm end, I will ry and get a picture of the wire I have connected it to. I contacted laserline and they will not give me wiring instructions for security reasons, super annoying! :)

Also since connecting the alarm my battery has drained and I have had to charge it up

I have managed to get a picture of the 2 wires, but I have now noticed that the black wire does not seem to come from the alarm but from inside the mini somewhere yet it is inside the insulation tape bound wires that go into the alarm system. Very confusing!

The 2 pinky wires are the ones I originally soldered the black wire to and the alarm had power but only when the doors or bonnet was open. The black one is the one that is coming towards the camera in the bottom left.

Sorry I really can't tell from that photo what colour the wires are.

I suspect that what you have done is connect the alarm's main ground wire into the door pin switch wires rather than directly to ground but without more information it's hard to tell.

Yeah it definatly sounds like you have wired to the door circuit so that when the door is open the circuit is connected. Try and retrace the wires back to where they come from ....

Fixed the problem, found out it was an earth wire so I earthed it at the nearest earth point and bingo it worked! :)
