Hello

I'm french and I try to find the real color of my 1968 Morris Cooper S MKII.

I think it's Vermillion red (perhaps repainted) but I don't find this color in all technical document.

For the 1968 year, I have found Tartan Red.

Can you tell me, if it's possible to have an original color like vermillion Red.

Thanks a lot for this site.

Looks like Blaze to me.
Not sure that it is a standard colour for a MK11 although the MK3 was available in it.

If is is standard then I would have thought it is a rare option.

Thanks.

But is it possible to find a vermillion red in 1968 for a Morris Cooper S ?

I thought that the only red was tartan.

Can you confirm.

Looks vermillion to me! I don't know 'historically' which colour it should be i'm afraid but it's not meant to be vermillion that's for sure.

They didn't fit those grilles in 1968 either, did they?

As Retro said, that's vermilion. Probably re-painted, don't think it was available on mk2's.

from what I could gather when I got my vermillion beasty, it was a mid-70s colour, so has been repainted. Unless possibly there was some slight differences with export cars? Tartan may be more 'period'

According to the mini colours website, Vermillion Red was introduced in '69.

Perhaps it was painted and registered late in '68, just before the colour was officially launched? But I don't ever remember seeing a Cooper S in Vermillion! So it is more than likely to be a respray....

What is the exact date on your log book snibril ? :)

Hello,
Thanks for all your response.

If it's resprayed, it is very good job (under seat, engine...)

I think it could be a very rare car (maybe the first...special frenchie)

The exact date on my log book is 12/08/1968

The Vin is 9FSAY/XXXXXX
The Chassis Code = K-A2S6L-115XXXXA
