Hello all.

I have a problem and it turns out to be, wrong starter motor fitted.

Now, since ive bought a new loom, solenoid etc i dont want to chop it up.

So is there anyway of making the pre-engaged starter work with a wing mounted solenoid?

Next question

I have a MG Metro turbo engine. The dizzy has two wires coming from it. Both black. Striping the outer casing of the wires, shows that one is red and one is blue. The dizzy as a clip on cap, looks like its electronic replacing points.

The wires have a plug on the end, which is 1 male pin and 1 female pin.

Any ideas which terminals on the coil they should go.

Speaking of coils, I have 1 white wire, 1 double (two wires in 1 spade) black/white and about 10cm futher right of the loom, a single black/white wire. Any ideas how i connect this up? The loom is a Mini Mayfair/Special 1979 on from minispares.com. Or do i leave it all off and connect a fused 12v ign live feed for the electronic dizzy?

Cheers all
Jordie

the pre engaged starter has the solenoid on it already so does away with the wing one....

are you sure the starter your using matches the flywheel ring-gear?

thats the problem. it doesnt match, hence wanting to fit a pre-engaged starter.

Yes i know it uses the piggy back solenoid, but there is a way to use the wing type instead.
