I have just bought a 99 T plate Cooper MPi which was supposed to be just a temporary run around for club meets ect until my other one has been restored, however i have a metro turbo engine with everything needed for a mini conversion including bulkhead box, downpipe, rad, pump ect ect which has been sat in my garage for about 5 years, so now i am thinking what if?
What i would like to know is, what effect would this have regarding an MOT and emissions ect?
I have read in a few threads that if an older engine is fitted then the cat could be removed as it is based on the age of the engine and not the age of the car, so would this apply when going from injection to forced induction? As obviously the emissions aren't going to be as good so would they base it on the engine? Also would i have to inform the DVLA of anything other than the engine number change? as the engine CC ect will not be changed.
