To remove the motor you unplug the wires and remove the three nuts from inside the passenger compartment that will be located behind the dash cards. Back in the engine compartment, remove the hex head screws that hold the aluminum cover on the motor. That will allow you to see pull/remove the tube assembly with the cable/coil-spring passing through it.
I hope this helps.

So the large Round thing that holds the wiper blade on cant be removed speratly?
Sorry, I don't' follow that.
The wiper arm goes on a splined shaft passing through the scuttle into the engine bay. On the bottom of the scuttle is an assembly called a wheelbox. The wheelbox is like a gear in an enclosure. A cable with a spring wrapped around it goes back and forth inside the aluminum guide tubes and drives the gear inside the wheelbox to make the arms oscillate.
If you want to remove the wiper arms, there is a little spring clip to relieve and then the arms pull off the splined shafts of the wheelboxes.
If you want to remove the wheelboxes, first remove the wiper arms. Then, below the scuttle you'll find a couple of bolts that hold the aluminum tubes to the wheel boxes. You can loosen those screws to extract the aluminum tubes and eventually... the cable with the spring on it. Lastly, remove the big hex nut from the wiper side of the wheelbox and push the splined shaft down through the scuttle panel.
On the motor itself.... from memory, once you lift off the aluminum cover, there is a pin or clip holding the cable with the spring to an arm driven by the plastic gear. You remove the clip/pin and loosen a jam nut holding the aluminum tube to the wiper housing. This should allow you to lift the aluminum tube and drive cable off the motor.
I hope that clarifies what you were asking about.

I take it in your moke the windscreen wiper unit, just like the landrover is a small compact motor, held on by two through bolts, with the wiper spindle going through the middle?
The large round thing, yes that is supposed to come off! There are two types tho -
the type for splined arms is held on by a small bolt - [attachment=52348:ca395.jpg]
the other has a sort of a collar on, and that screws into the wiper arm and clamps onto the spindle

It never occurred to me that you had a Moke. I'm sure my text was of little or no use. Sorry.

well thats odd! perhaps it has sheared off in the past? Had these unions on my series one landrover with lucas wiper motors, and also on a later series 3.. quite a common part i believe. You can always grind it off and buy another online if need be.

in the photos, that rusty thing that looks like a screw, has no head for a scrwdriver to pick up!

On the 3rd photo, can see the kinda collar thing towards the lens?
