Looking to buy an external and an internal micrometer, just wondering which sizes to buy, and whether anyone knows of some good buys?
Found an external thats 0-4", which I would think should do all I'd need it for?

Try these people, usually very well priced, I've got their catalogue at work and they do a nice boxed set for a reasonable price(can't remember how much and I'm not at work at the mo).

It may be better to give em a bell.

What size you need to buy depends on what you are measuring Jammy!

Well I don't want to be rude, but I didn't think you can get micrometers that large!

Just crank, rods and pistons, etc for when rebuilding an engine.

I have 0-25, 25-50, and 50-75 mitutoyos . They serve me well for most jobs. For internal stuff I use a dial bore gauge. Telescopic gauges will do fine for your type of work, you need to have a good feel for them to get a good reading, and even then they aren't 100% accurate, saying that, the error will be less than 0.0001", nothing to lose sleep over. I work in a precision engineering company, so I'm lucky enough to get all I need.
